NORTH AMERICA'S LARGEST PROVIDER FOR INDEPENDENT RETIREMENT LIVING
SECURES DISTRIBUTED NETWORK WITH FORTINET IN RECORD TIME

For nearly 40 years, Holiday Retirement has been providing the very best options for senior living. Each of its communities is designed with a focus on creating a rewarding and satisfying lifestyle for residents. Holiday Retirement offers more than 300 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

Holiday Retirement utilized broadband connectivity for integral office operations and service to its residents. More importantly, the critical need for connectivity was related to employee time tracking, keeping track of all new resident move-ins, as well as food ordering for the facilities.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Holiday was in a position to replace their broadband network in a very short period of time. Holiday Retirement conducted a thorough search for a business partner who could offer managed broadband connectivity and network security.

Holiday Retirement selected Industry Retail Group (IRG), a premier provider of broadband-enabled network services, serving retailers and multi-site companies. The company relied on IRG to provide network security for its distributed network. “We were looking for a network security vendor that gave us the flexibility to easily manage our large and distributed network as well as support our need to reduce costs and simplify our network,” said Steve McDowell, Chief Information Officer at Holiday Retirement. BETHESDA, MD, Dec 05, 2008 - Industry Retail Group, Inc. (IRG), (www.industryretail.com), a leading provider of retail-centric broadband-based applications and services, announced today that it has successfully completed the launch of substantial upgrade to its web-based client portal known as the Vault. This includes the ability to view installs scheduled for the current day, week, month, next week, next month, and even orders pending client action.

WI-FI HOT SPOTS: HOT OR NOT?

Wi-Fi hotspots provide some lift, but beware of hastily planned infrastructures.

Integrated Solutions For Retailers, October 2008
Written by: Matt Pillar

I recently had myself convinced that I could handle a fairly sizable remodeling job myself. At the behest of my family, I begrudgingly hired a professional contractor, who has since proceeded to impress me thoroughly with his skill and quality of work. I now admit that I could not have done what he has accomplished.

So it goes with certain IT projects in your enterprise, Wi-Fi notwithstanding. Subscribers to this magazine are representative of the entire North American retail spectrum, from small shop owners to many top executives at Wal-Mart. Many of them are do-it-yourselfer wannabes like me, who inevitably skip a step or cut a corner when they take their projects in-house. While you might not be surprised at how many retailers have adopted Wi-Fi, you would be shocked at the number of them using the technology inappropriately. Lately, I’ve been talking with executives from network and wireless solutions providers like Industry Retail Group (IRG) and AirTight Networks, and they’ve corroborated my findings. We’ve swapped stories of retailers using open-access hotspots to communicate sensitive data, offering free Wi-Fi to consumers on corporate network infrastructures, and using default parameters of their off-the-shelf, plug and play access points for corporate data sharing.
